The attacker does not just copy a voice. They create a situation designed to make you react quickly.

You might hear:

“Don’t tell anyone.”

“I’m in trouble.”

“Send the money now.”

This is also a form of impersonation, where someone pretends to be a person you already trust.

The goal is to reduce the time you spend checking whether the story is real.

A Familiar Voice Is No Longer Enough

If a call asks for money, passwords, verification codes, or sensitive information, confirm it another way.

Hang up and call the person back using the number you already know.

Families can also agree on a private verification phrase or question that is not shared online.

The point is simple: do not rely on voice alone.

AI can copy how someone sounds.

It cannot automatically prove who is really on the other end of the call.
